Robber gets struck by taxi while fleeing the scene
A dramatic incident took place this morning in the central business district of Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal, when a 21-year-old robbery suspect was struck by a minibus taxi while trying to flee the scene. The incident took place on Wick Street at approximately 6:54 a.m. on Monday.
The suspect had just committed a robbery in the area when he attempted to escape. However, in his state of panic, he was struck by the taxi, leaving him injured on the ground. The taxi driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the suspect lying on the road.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) quickly responded to the scene upon receiving a report of the incident. Upon arrival, Reaction Officers found the injured suspect but were unable to locate the victim of the robbery. It is believed that the victim left the area shortly after being robbed by the two men.
The injured suspect received medical attention from paramedics from the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) at the scene.
He was then transported to a local government hospital for further treatment. Despite being involved in the robbery, the suspect was not immediately arrested.
The other suspect involved in the robbery managed to flee the scene on foot and remains at large. Law enforcement authorities are currently investigating the incident and searching for the second suspect.
