Remember when Bafana Bafana beat Morocco at FNB stadium? Broos plotting similar coup

Bafana Bafana will face their toughest challenge yet in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals as they take on Morocco in the last-16.

Despite feeling slightly hard done by the draw, Bafana Bafana understands that to be the best, they must beat the best.

Hugo Broos’ side performed well in the group stages, finishing as runners-up in Group E.

While it may be easier to reach the knockout rounds with 16 out of 24 teams advancing, Bafana Bafana showed their determination and skill to secure their spot.

The last time these two teams met in an Afcon qualifier, South Africa emerged victorious.

Although it was a dead rubber match with both teams already qualified for the finals, this victory may give Bafana Bafana the confidence they need to take on the Atlas Lions.

Morocco has been making steady progress in the tournament so far, but this could be the moment they slip up.

In a tournament full of surprises, Bafana Bafana has the potential to cause an upset and advance to the quarter-finals.

Coach Hugo Broos is aware of the challenge ahead but remains optimistic.

He said, “We know that Morocco is a strong team, but we also believe in our abilities. We have shown that we can compete at this level, and we are ready to give our all on Tuesday.”

Captain of the team, Thulani Hlatshwayo, echoed his coach’s sentiments.
