Relebohile Mofokeng (19) Breaks Silence on Exciting Wolves Trial
Orlando Pirates rising star Relebohile Mofokeng has recently made headlines, not for his performances on the local stage, but for his exciting venture into the international football arena.
The 19-year-old winger, who made a breakthrough with the Pirates senior side last season, went on trial with Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers in October of the previous year.
As Mofokeng eagerly awaits feedback from Wolves, he shares insights into his experience and hopes for the future.
Relebohile Mofokeng’s Rapid Rise
Relebohile Mofokeng quickly ascended the ranks within Orlando Pirates, making a significant breakthrough into the senior side in May.
His impressive performances in the DStv Diski Challenge paved the way for this promotion, where he notched up two appearances and scored a goal just before the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.
The skilful winger’s journey continued into the following season, with notable participation in a mini pre-season tour in Spain, facing formidable opponents such as Maccabi Tel Aviv, Independiente del Valle, and UD Las Palmas.
Following his standout performances in the mini pre-season, Mofokeng received a once in a lifetime opportunity being a trial with Wolverhampton Wanderers in England.
The 19-year-old, however, is still awaiting feedback from the Premier League side.
Despite the lack of formal communication, Mofokeng shared his perspective on the trial, expressing confidence in his abilities compared to English players.
In his own words, Mofokeng stated, “I’d say there’s not much of a difference. I didn’t get the feedback [yet] but then let’s hope for the best. I don’t think there’s much of a difference between us, the PSL players, and the players at Wolves, but I’m just hoping for the best.”
