Female police officer found death in her car at a KZN beach
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Friday morning, ALS Paramedics responded to a shooting incident at Dekota Beach in Isipingo, south of Durban.
Upon arrival, paramedics found South African Police Service (SAPS) officers already at the scene and were directed to a vehicle where they discovered an unresponsive patient with a fatal gunshot wound.
The victim, a woman in her thirties believed to be a police officer, showed no signs of life and was pronounced dead at the scene by ALS Paramedics.
In a seperate incident, police in KwaZulu-Natal have initiated a manhunt for a suspect who shot and injured a police constable in Newtown A, Inanda, shortly after midnight on May 29, 2024.
The constable, a member of the Public Order Policing unit, was patrolling with colleagues when they stopped to search a suspicious group of men. During the search, one suspect fled, and the constable pursued him. The suspect then drew a firearm and fired several shots at the officer, injuring him on the chin and left arm.
The injured officer was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention. Authorities urge anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111.
The circumstances leading to the shooting are currently unknown, and SAPS will be conducting further investigations.
