Pirates Player Worth R5 Million Attracts Two PSL Rivals

Not one, but two PSL opponents are interested in signing one of Orlando Pirates’ players in January. According to SoccerLaduma, two DStv Premiership teams are interested in Sandile Mthethwa.

Mthethwa may be leaving Mayfair despite performing well in the recent Carling Black Label Cup semi-final against the Chiefs. PSL rivals Chippa United and Golden Arrows have both expressed interest in the Bucs defender.

The Bucs defender has a lot of potential, but it’s unlikely that he will be able to realise it with the Pirates because he is far down the Soweto giants’ pecking order.

He is currently seated behind people like Olisa Ndah, Tapelo Xoki, and Nkosinathi Sibisi.

Jose Riveiro hasn’t utilised Mthethwa in the PSL this season, and he didn’t play in the MTN8, so it’s unlikely that he will change his mind. This is something that United and Arrows have noted.
Mthethwa is one of the most recent objectives for both PSL teams.

“Chippa United is interested in Sandile Mthethwa from Pirates. He’s the player that has been identified as a possible addition to the team. He did well when he played for the team previously while on loan from Pirates and the club would love to have him back, stated the source in the same publication,” the source added.

However, they face stiff competition from Arrows.

“But Chippa is not the only club interested in the player. Golden is also interested and could also make a move for him in January,” the source added.

According to The South African, Both parties must be willing to shell out a sizable sum for the Buccaneers star.

Pirates player

The most recent player values on Transfermarkt place Mthethwa’s current market value at above R5 Millions. Arrows and Chippa can therefore both afford him. Additionally, a switch to either side would help Mthethwa’s career as he searches for consistent playing time.
