Palesa killed by Zimbabwean boyfriend

People were advised to be on the lookout for Sylvester Roy Mphephu. At the time he was wanted in connection to the murder of Palesa.

According to reports a 28-year-old woman, Palesa Matlamela, 𝗐𝖺𝗌 was allegedly beaten by her boyfriend earlier on Tuesday 6 September 2022. It is then alleged that he dropped her off at 𝖤𝖽𝖾𝗇𝗏𝖺𝗅𝖾 𝖧𝗈𝗌𝗉𝗂𝗍𝖺𝗅. This is where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Roy Mphephu is also rumoured to be a Zimbabwean national.

It’s further alleged that he eventually handed himself over to Sandringham police station. The effort and awareness that was raised on social media about the incident might have influenced his decision to go to the police.

The reporting period from April to June 2022 shows how cruel and unsafe South Africa is for women and children.

More than 11,000 assault cases involving female victims were reported to the police.
