Mzansi social media detectives are still tracing the origins of Thabo Bester’s photo with Jacob Zuma
The authenticity of a widely circulated picture featuring Thabo Bester alongside former South African president Jacob Zuma has resurfaced, sparking intrigue and skepticism among South Africans.
According to iMzansi, the image, which first gained viral attention on social media nearly a year ago following Bester’s arrest in April 2023, has once again stirred controversy, with lingering questions surrounding its credibility.
Following the circulation of the image on social media, the Jacob Zuma Foundation swiftly distanced itself from Bester, dismissing the picture as a “malicious attempt to tarnish the former president.”
Spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi labeled the image as “fake,” asserting that it was a deliberate ploy to associate Zuma with questionable individuals.
This instance of manipulated imagery is not an isolated incident for Thabo Bester, who has a history of deception through fabricated personas and false representations.
In a previous case in 2018, Bester masqueraded as Tom Motsepe during a live stream for his fictitious company, 21st Century Media, falsely claiming connections to South African billionaire Patrice Motsepe.
Additionally, investigations revealed that Bester had employed photo manipulation, such as superimposing his face onto Hollywood actor Michael B. Jordan’s body in images shared on his X account.
Moreover, Bester’s dubious associations with high-profile figures, including Shauwn Mkhize, have raised suspicions and led to denials of any involvement with the convicted fraudster.
The intricate web of deceit surrounding Bester extends to encounters with celebrities like Simz Ngema, Tumisho Masha, Kabelo Mabalane, and actress Pearl Thusi, shedding light on his checkered past and the intricate network of individuals affected by his actions.
