Mother stambles across a gruesome find

A 69-year-old mother found the lifeless body of her son with multiple stab wounds on a footpath in Cottonlands.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance by the mother at approximately 06:26. Upon arrival, members were directed to a sidewalk by RUSA. The 38-year-old was found to have multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. He was pronounced deceased by paramedics.

The 28-year-old male friend of the deceased was found about 30 meters away in his apartment. He had received three (3) stab wounds to the abdomen, two to the neck, and one to his right leg.

The injured friend told response officers that he and the deceased had been drinking traditional beer at his apartment last night. Two unknown men approached them and befriended them. The four consumed alcohol together.

Around 00:00, they decided to buy more alcohol at a local tavern. The homeowner and the two unknown men left the house while the deceased remained inside. On the way to the tavern, the two men pulled out knives and repeatedly stabbed the victim. They left him to die and returned to the house where they stabbed the deceased. It could not be confirmed if they dumped his body on the sidewalk or if the severely injured man collapsed when he tried to get help. His injured friend managed to get back to the house.

According to the mother of the deceased, she called him by phone last night and asked him to come home. This morning, she found that he had not returned and went in search of him when she discovered him.

The motive for the attack was confirmed.
