Mob burns illegal immigrant who allegedly raped two women and killed one of them

A mob justice incident unfolded in Manavhela village in the Vuwani area of Limpopo, where a suspected criminal was burnt to death.

The SABC reports that the victim was accused of raping two women and allegedly killing one of them a week prior to the incident.

It is believed that the suspect is an illegal immigrant.

The brutal act of vigilantism has sparked outrage and condemnation from law enforcement authorities.

Police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba has called on communities to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing the importance of allowing the legal system to handle such matters.



Ledwaba confirmed that officers are actively investigating the incident to establish the facts surrounding the mob justice that led to the victim’s death.

In a statement, Ledwaba described the gruesome scene, stating, “Upon their arrival at the scene of the crime, they discovered the lifeless burnt body of a person who was allegedly attacked by members of the community.”

The identity of the victim remains unknown, and the motive behind the violent attack is currently under police investigation.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe, has strongly condemned the brutal manner in which the victim was killed.
