Man in trouble after allegedly interfering with VIP motorcade

A 57-year-old man is set to face charges after allegedly interfering with a motorcade convoy escorting a foreign VIP dignitary to the Lanseria Airport.

The incident occurred yesterday morning, and the man was apprehended by the police after attempting to disrupt the motorcade on three separate occasions.

Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe emphasizes the importance of respecting vehicles displaying blue lights, as they have the absolute right of way when it is safe to do so.

She urges motorists to give way to these vehicles, as stated by the National Road Traffic Act.

Mathe also reminds the public that blue lights should only be fitted on vehicles operated by authorized entities such as the South African Police Service (SAPS), Municipal Police Services, Traffic officers, and the SANDF Military Police.
