Man hands himself over to the police after a horrific incident

The South African Police Service ( SAPS) in Dennilton arrested 42-year-old man. The man was allegedly involved in a murder of his wife. The incident took place at Moteti Extension Slovo, Dennilton Policing area, a week ago.

The arrest comes from a horrible incident discovered by community members. The community members found a lifeless body of a woman along the road in the early hours of Monday 03 July 2023.

It is alleged that the suspect was the last person to be seen with the deceased on Sunday 02 July, 2023. According to reports, the two were at the local tavern and they later left.

It appears that while walking home, the couple had a heated argument and fought resulting in the murder. The suspect then fled the scene and left his wife in a pool of blood. The suspect immediately left his home and went to his hiding place at Kwa Mhlanga in Mpumalanga Province.

The Police and Emergency personnel were called to the scene and on arrival the wife was certified dead and a case of murder was opened .The Police commenced with investigation that resulted in a search operation aimed arresting the suspect.

Ultimately the suspect handed himself over at Kwa Mhlanga Police Station after a couple of days on the run.

The motive for the killing is still unknown.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the Gender Based Violence incidents that are extremely increasing in the Province.

The suspect will appear before Dennilton Magistrate’s Court soon on charge of Murder.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
