Man chops off brother’s head over witchcraft allegations
A 38-year-old man from Thohoyandou was arrested for allegedly decapitating his elder brother, 41, and attacking his younger sister, 32, along with her 10-year-old daughter.
The accused claimed that his siblings were practicing witchcraft against him, leading to a violent confrontation.
Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba revealed that the gruesome act unfolded during the early hours of Monday following an argument between the two brothers.
The motive behind the violent outburst remains unclear, leaving the community in disbelief.
Residents of Tshidimbini village, speaking anonymously to News O’clock, disclosed that the suspect accused his siblings of bewitching him during the confrontation.
The shocking aftermath of the incident was discovered by authorities when they found the victim’s severed head placed on a large stone outside the family home.
Describing the scene, Mashaba stated, “We came across a human head at the gate and found the decapitated body of the 41-year-old man tied up with a rope. A 32-year-old woman and her 10-year-old daughter were also injured in the attack and had been rushed to the hospital.”
The suspect, who was apprehended at the scene, had used dangerous weapons such as a hammer, spade, and a sharp knife.
In response to the tragic event, Itani Nenguda, chairperson of Real Mean Foundation, expressed deep shock over the violent incident.
Nenguda emphasized the importance of seeking help to address domestic issues, urging men to refrain from resorting to extreme violence.
“Killing another person is not a solution for any problem,” he emphasized, highlighting the need for effective conflict resolution mechanisms within communities.
