Man arrested for selling dagga to schoolchildren in Lamontville
A 29-year-old man was arrested by Lamontville police on Wednesday, 13 November 2024, after he was caught selling dagga to schoolchildren outside a local high school.
The arrest followed a tip-off to the Social Crime Prevention unit about a man selling drugs to students. Officers conducted an operation and found the suspect inside a room near the school, in the company of ten pupils, eight of whom were girls. The man was found in possession of dagga, which he was selling to the children.
In light of the ongoing final examinations, police officers prioritized the safety and well-being of the learners. The students were issued a stern warning in the presence of their parents before being released. The accused drug dealer is set to appear in Wentworth Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 14 November 2024, facing charges of dealing in dagga.
