Luke Fleurs| “It was a hit” netizen react
Police have arrested six suspects for the alleged hijacking and the murder of Kaizer Chiefs player Luke Fleurs in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The 24-year-old promising soccer star was tragically shot and killed during a hijacking at a petrol station in the northwest of Johannesburg a week ago.
Fleurs was inside a red VW Golf 8 GTI at the petrol station located on 14th Avenue, at the corner of Hendrik Potgieter, when he was shot once in the upper body.
According to a source who spoke to Sunday World on condition of anonymity, Gauteng police downloaded the video footage of the incident from the petrol station.
The footage shows Fleurs engaging in a fierce battle with the two armed men to stop them from stealing his luxurious red VW Golf 8 GTI.
Following the arrests, pictures of the state of his recovered vehicle have been making the rounds on the internet, which has people suspecting that it was a hit disguised as a hijacking.
X users raised suspicions because of the the barely stripped stolen vehicle. With Lethabo saying “If they actually wanted the car they would have totally stripped it by now. it was a hit.”
This is the condition they found Luke Fleurs's car in.

Another commenter stated: “That’s secondary to why they “hijacked” him. They wanted him. The selling of the car parts was just because he drove a nice car”
The suspects are expected to appear before the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
