Lilian Munyai given free bail for murder
Vhembe District Residents in Limpopo were left shocked and in disbelief, after Lilian Munyai was given free bail
Lilian Munyai was arrested for stabbing her boyfriend using the knife pictured see next to her.
It’s alleged that during their fight she stabbed her boyfriend in the neck, he was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and died.
Gender-based violence against men is not treated as seriously as it is against women, who are more likely to be the victims.

The fact that a man died and the murderer is now roaming the streets on free bail, is very concerning.
She should have been kept in custody until her trial or at the very least receive costly bail.
The justice system needs to do better when it comes to ensuring that perpetrators receive a punishment that is fit for their crimes and Lilian Munyai should feel the full wrath of the law.
It is evident that women can also commit gender-based violence, and tshe men who are victims often feel too ashamed to speak up for themselves out of fear of being turned into a laughing stock.
