Keagan Dolly to unceremoniously depart Kaizer Chiefs with just just a coffee cup after failing to win ‘real’ cups

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Keagan Dolly’s time at Naturena may be coming to an end without the coveted silverware he sought upon his arrival.

The 31-year-old Bafana Bafana attacker has endured a challenging three-season spell with Amakhosi, marred by injuries and a lack of consistent playing time.

Despite joining Chiefs on a free transfer from French Ligue 1 side Montpellier in 2021, Dolly has only managed 67 appearances for the Soweto giants.

His time at the club has been plagued by fitness issues, limiting his ability to make a significant impact on the pitch.

According to reports from iDiskiTimes’ Lorenz Kohler, Kaizer Chiefs are contemplating parting ways with the Johannesburg-born winger.

As one of the highest-paid players at the club, Dolly’s departure could free up significant funds for new recruits as Amakhosi look to rebuild their squad and challenge for trophies.

Dolly’s arrival at Chiefs in 2022 was fueled by his desire to win silverware, a goal that has remained elusive during his tenure.

Following the club’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup final that year, Dolly expressed his frustration, stating, “I am very, very disappointed. I came to Chiefs because I wanted to win trophies. I think we have the capacity to do so, we have the players, we have the quality, and to go out [of the Nedbank Cup] so early is disappointing.”
