Kaizer Chiefs fails to dethrone Sundowns

The Kaizer Chiefs team must be kicking themselves in the foot after they put on a good show but had very disappointing results.

Kaizer Chiefs failed to dethrone Mamelodi Sundowns after losing 2-1 to Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night.

When Kaizer Chiefs were defeated by Chippa United on Saturday, they lost the chance to retake the top spot in the DStv Premiership standings.

The Gqeberha team, Chippa United, prevailed 2-1 in the game at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Before midfielder Siphelele Luthuli of the Chilli Boys, Chippa United, equalized the score for the Glamour Boys in the 54th minute, defender Siyabonga Ngezana had given the Glamour Boys the lead in the 44th minute.

The Chilli Boys managed to surprise everyone by winning thanks to an own goal by Edmilson Dove in the 89th minute. Chippa United moved up to the seventh place with the help of the three points.

The own goal resulted in Amakhosi remaining with 17 points after 11 games and Kaizer Chiefs are still in fourth place overall, two points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who have two games left to play.
