Kagiso Rabada is back for Proteas charge

Proteas coach Shukri Conrad has provided an update on the availability of fast bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi for the first Test against India in Centurion.

Despite both players struggling with injuries, they were able to bowl without discomfort during a recent nets session.

During a press conference, Conrad confirmed that Rabada and Ngidi are currently with the team and are eligible for selection.

He also mentioned that no replacements have been called in, indicating that the team is confident in their fitness.

Conrad expressed hope that all 15 players will be fit and available for the match, stating, “We have not called anybody in as a replacement and hopefully come the morning of the match we have 15 fit players to select from.”

In addition to the availability of Rabada and Ngidi, Conrad spoke highly of 23-year-old quick Gerald Coetzee, who is expected to play on the pace and bounce-friendly Centurion pitch.

Coetzee has already impressed with his performances in his two Test matches, taking nine wickets.

Conrad praised Coetzee’s abilities, stating, “He’s been phenomenal every time he’s stepped onto the field, whether it be with the white ball in his hand or the red one.”

Conrad also highlighted Coetzee’s aggression and pace, which are qualities that South African cricket has always prided itself on.

He expressed his hope that Coetzee will continue to gain experience in various leagues and representing South Africa, with the potential to lead the bowling attack in the future.
