Julius Malema fires shots at Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa has come under fire from Julius Malema, the leader of the EFF, over “embarrassing” photos of a road rehabilitation project in Delmas, Mpumalanga.

As part of the ANC’s Letsema service delivery campaign, Ramaphosa visited the region over the weekend and assisted municipal workers in fixing roads.

Ramaphosa and other ANC officials were spotted on the road assessing the repairs in pictures that quickly went viral. These pictures caused heated controversy.

Julius Malema was one of many who criticised the ANC. He told attendees at the third North West Provincial People’s Assembly in Klerksdorp that EFF members ought to have told the truth to their counterparts in the ruling party.

Where is the EFF in Mpumalanga that Ramaphosa visited to fill in a hole that didn’t exist? Considering that the EFF ought to have intervened and declared, “You cannot fill any pothole here.” No pothole exists in this area. There are no roads here.”

You leave the individual to deal with our people any way he pleases while claiming to be on the ground. Wherever the ANC and Ramaphosa exploit our people, they must be challenged toe-to-toe.

He said that nothing had stopped supporters from holding signs reminding Ramaphosa of his purported shortcomings while standing by the side of the road.

Floyd Shivambu, the deputy president of the EFF, also added his voice, calling the renovations “embarrassing.”

The minister asked, “Which road is being fixed here? This is desperate grandstanding at what level? We were aware of the awful situation, but not to this embarrassing extent. Please remove this tweet and the pictures that were uploaded concerning the fictitious repair of the roads. Please,” pleaded Shivambu.
