Itumeleng Khune shares strategy for today’s game

Itumeleng Khune, the goalkeeper for Kaizer Chiefs, has shared the strategy his team would employ in today’s MTN8 semi-final first leg against AmaZulu.

To gain an advantage for the return leg at Moses Mabhida Stadium in three weeks, the Amakhosi will welcome Usuthu at FNB Stadium this afternoon.
Khune stated that while attacking, his team would also make an effort to prevent AmaZulu from scoring an away goal.

Kaizer Chiefs attack strategy according to Itumeleng Khune

Since it’s our home game and we don’t want to give AmaZulu any hope or opportunity to gain an advantage in the first leg, scoring and keeping a clean sheet are obviously of utmost importance. This is especially true when playing at home. On the club’s website, he stated.

“We’ll take the game to the opponent, attack as much as we can, and prevent them from getting inside our 18-yard zone,” the coach said.

Khune also emphasized that his team’s goal is to win the MTN8 trophy and put an end to the club’s seven-year trophy drought.

“We are completely prepared,” claims Khune.

“I believe that we have been anticipating this match ever since the Macufe game. Many of us are looking forward to the match and are eager to compete and succeed.

We want to end the “curse” of not having won a trophy in the previous seven years, thus the possibility of making it to the final serves as motivation in and of itself.

We have a lot of box entries in the league, but we haven’t been able to convert, so it’s up to us how we will utilise the possibilities we produce. Now that it’s a two-legged cup competition, all we have to do is make sure we do ourselves a favor and triumph both at home and away.
