Capturing of general election results onto IEC system is almost done

The capturing of the final 1% of voting district results onto the IEC system is expected to be completed later on Saturday afternoon. IEC chairperson Mosotho Moepya announced that objections from political parties will be considered until 6 pm today.

Nationally, the African National Congress (ANC) has garnered just over 40% of the vote, followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) with over 21%, and the MK Party with more than 14%, leading to a coalition government scenario in South Africa.

Provincially, the ANC will maintain control in Limpopo, North West, Eastern Cape, Free State, and Mpumalanga, albeit with reduced majorities in some areas. The DA continues to control the Western Cape. No party has achieved an outright majority in the Northern Cape, Gauteng, and KwaZulu-Natal, prompting upcoming coalition negotiations for these provincial administrations.
