“I haven’t eaten since Sunday” says man who saw 6 bodies
“It smelled strange. I believed there were some hidden dead animals in our building.”
This was the testimony of a person who works in the same building where six women’s decomposing, partially-naked bodies were discovered on Sunday evening.
The person, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the smell started faint but quickly became overpowering.
“The strong odour made it uncomfortable for my coworkers and I to work. Even trying to eat our meals was difficult.” It was unbearable.
At first, I believed that our building contained buried corpses of animals. I started to wonder. I requested that my coworkers and I search the area. We decided enough was enough on Sunday.
He said that when they got there, they witnessed something he was never expecting to see. In his entire life, he has never witnessed anything like it. He is shaking. He finds it incomprehensible that we coexist with such vicious people.
Police discovered the bodies of six semi-naked women thanks to the man’s curiosity.
“The victim’s underwear was tucked in below her knees. Her skirt was covering her head and neck. The wrists and feet of all six were tied from behind “Added he.
Since then, a 21-year-old man has been arrested for the women’s murders.
The building where the victims were discovered, located on Sprinz Avenue in the heart of Johannesburg, was formerly a factory for safety boots.
“Only two people had access to keys leading to the workshops. It was the person who had been arrested and the caretaker,” the man told News24.
Three different vehicles that were being fixed are where four of the deceased were discovered. One body was discovered buried beneath dumpsters behind the structure. The other woman was confined to a dustbin ” he said.
“My last meal was on Sunday. I’m tortured by the sight of flies and maggots coming from those women’s bodies. I have trouble focusing. This odour is still present. It’s unwilling to leave, “Added he.
The man thinks the dead bodies had been there for over a month.
Brigadier Brenda Muridili, a spokesperson for the Gauteng Police, said: “Due to an unpleasant odour emanating from one of the rooms, the police were called to the building. At that time, a woman’s body was discovered.
Officers were able to locate a 21-year-old man who was last seen with the victim on October 2 after preliminary investigations.”
The woman’s attire, Muridili continued, matched the description in a recent missing person’s report.
“Five more victims were found outside the building, where there is a makeshift workshop and dumpsters after the police returned to the scene to question the suspect.
The five bodies were in a severe condition of decay, and identification will require forensic examination.
Muridili continued, “The suspect is expected to face six counts of murder in court.”
