Kaizer Chiefs former star player fired
The former Kaizer Chiefs player has been reportedly fired. Insights into Samir Nurkovic’s contentious departure at Royal AM have subsequently surfaced, with reports suggesting the Serbian forward went without pay for two months while he battled injuries.
Nurkovic is now a free agent after being rudely dismissed barely two months after joining the team after leaving Kaizer Chiefs.
The 30-year-old striker signed a two-year contract with Thwihli Thwahla that has a one-year extension option.
According to a source with direct knowledge of the matter, Royal AM decided to cut their losses with Nurkovic because they thought he was injury prone.
UNPAID WAGES
The insider informed FARPost that Royal AM didn’t pay anything for more than two months, including rent, a wage, or anything else.
Dajan Simac, Nurkovic’s agent, spoke with their attorneys, who then wrote to Royal AM requesting payment for the player.
MaMkhize, however, also spoke with her attorneys, and they responded with a letter. Due to his injury, they intended to sever Nurkovic’s contract.
“Nurkovic began the club’s preseason with them, but after just one week of training, he injured himself.
The decision to cancel the striker’s contract was therefore recommended to MaMkhize [Shauwn Mkhize, president of Royal AM], and the Nurkovic camp was shocked by the club’s action.
Since then, FIFA has been contacted by the Serbian hitman’s attorneys to resolve the issue.
Shauwn Mkhize, the manager of Royal AM, reportedly granted Nurkovic 30 days to leave the team after he had been on extended ” sick leave.”
The forward, who was born in Tutin, has never played for Royal AM in an official match. He just participated in the Macufe Cup game in September against Kaizer Chiefs.
“In general, South African labour law permits the employer to terminate employment when a person has been ill or injured for more than one month.
The informant said, “But because of the nature of the work, that doesn’t apply in football.
Football is a physically demanding sport, thus injuries are inevitable. Thus, the Nurkovic camp was taken aback by the club’s choice.
“It seems like Royal AM’s attorneys don’t know anything about contracts and sports law. Following attempts to negotiate an understanding with Royal AM, Nurkovic’s attorneys have brought the case before the FIFA court.
The Nurkovic camp is sure that they will prevail in court, forcing Royal AM to fulfill the contract.
But even if the procedure could take up to two years, Nurkovic is okay with it.
Richard Makhoba, general manager of Royal AM, responded that he was not interested in commenting on the situation when asked.
“I elect not to comment on. You guys [the media] wrote back and forth about things that are not there. The club cannot comment,” Makhoba told FAR Post
