Manhunt launched after suspects killed farmer and injured wife

Police in the Western Cape are currently on a manhunt for five suspects who brutally attacked a farmer and his wife on their farm near Vanrhynsdorp.

The incident occurred on Monday night when the suspects stormed the house on Ronderug Farm, resulting in the death of 72-year-old farmer Willem van der Westhuizen and leaving his wife seriously injured.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Malcolm Pojie, the suspects entered the farmhouse through the back door while their faces were covered with balaclavas.

Van der Westhuizen suffered a stab wound to his neck during the attack. It is a horrifying and tragic event that has shocked the local community.

“The level of violence displayed during this incident is deeply concerning,” said Lieutenant Pojie.

“We are treating this case as a priority and have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspects.”

Incidents of farm attacks in South Africa have been a cause for concern for many years.

The police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
