Everyone left dead in a very strange taxi accident

The hardest thing about death is that it comes when you least expect. This was the case when a fully loaded taxi which was far from danger got involved in a freak accident that left everyone dead.

At around 11 p.m on 2 July 2023 all 15 people inside of a minibus taxi died in what may be considered a bizarre accident involving a truck and a fully loaded taxi. The horrific accident occurred on the N9 road in Middelburg, Eastern Cape.

According to reports, the minibus taxi was travelling from the Eastern Cape to Western Cape, far from the truck when tragedy struck.

A heavy duty truck is said to have hit a stray animal and the driver lost control. At the same time a fully loaded mini bus taxi was traveling in the opposite direction. It was moving parallel to the the truck when something strange happened. As the driver was struggling to regain control of the truck, the trailer gave way and overturned.

The trailer made its way to the taxi and smashed onto it. Everyone inside the taxi was sadly killed.

Two infants, aged years and 2 months, were among the 15 fatalities, which included nine females and four males.

Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.

Lt Gen Mene extended her sympathy to the families of the devastated crash victims. ‘ South African Police Service (SAPS) management in the Eastern Cape is deeply sorry for the loss of so many lives. The loss of loved ones in such a sudden and tragic manner is truly devastating, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families as they navigate through this unimaginable grief,’ added Lt Gen Mene.
