Despite maintaining his innocence and expressing intentions to clear his name, his failure to present a defense to the Independent Doping Hearing Panel (IDHP) resulted in the imposition of a four-year suspension.

“Despite my best efforts to prove my innocence, I understand the decision made by the panel. I will continue to fight to clear my name and return to the sport I love,” Jantjies said in a statement.

Beyond the doping scandal, Jantjies has found himself entangled in other controversies off the field.

Incidents on an Emirates flight and rumored personal affairs have added to his troubles, impactng both his reputation and career trajectory.

“The ban is a tough pill to swallow. Elton has been a significant contributor to South African rugby, and it’s unfortunate to see his career facing such a challenge.

“We hope for a fair resolution as he navigates this difficult period,” remarked a representative from the South African Rugby Union.
