Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi responds to his “resignation” from the EFF
Rumours are swirling that Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, a prominent member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has resigned from the party, following the recent departure of the EFF’s deputy president, Floyd Shivambu. Ndlozi’s silence over Floyd Shivambu’s resignation has only fueled further speculation.
These rumours comes from brewing tension within the EFF. Floyd Shivambu, a co-founder of the party and a close ally of Ndlozi, officially resigned from the EFF in mid-August 2024. Shivambu’s resignation came as a shock to many, as he has been a central figure in the party since its inception. His departure was attributed to increasing tensions with party leader Julius Malema, although both have downplayed any personal animosity.
Shivambu announced that he would be joining the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, founded by former President Jacob Zuma, marking a big realignment in South African politics. His resignation has caused ripples within the EFF, leading to fears of more high-profile exits, including potentially that of Ndlozi. Some South Africans, particularly on social media, have urged Ndlozi to follow Shivambu’s lead, especially in light of what they perceive as Malema’s “dictatorial” control over the party.
These developments have sparked concerns about the future of the EFF, as losing key figures like Shivambu and potentially Ndlozi could weaken the party’s standing and influence.
However Ndlozi took to social media and instantly shut down the rumour by posting a picture of himself in an EFF shirt, signalling that he is still very much a member of the EFF.
