Dj Sbu breaks his silence about Zahara’s passing

Fans are criticising TS Records DJ Sbu and TK Nciza for “exploiting” singer Zahara as Mzansi grieves her untimely death.

Following the sudden death of Afropop sensation Zahara, actual name Bulelwa Mkutukana, businessmen DJ Sbu and TK Nciza have topped the social media trends list.

Zizi Kodwa, the Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture, announced the multi-award-winning singer’s passing on Monday night.

“I am very saddened by the passing of Zahara. My deepest condolences to the Mkutukana family and the South African music industry. Government has been with the family for some time now. Zahara and her guitar made an incredible and lasting impact in South African music,” Kodwa wrote.

The musician, 36, passed away on Monday night at a private hospital in Johannesburg, with her fiancé, Mpho Xaba, by her side, according to a news publication.

The Loliwe hitmaker and DJ Sbu, whose real name is Sibusiso Leope, haven’t gotten along for years. It all began when she accused the DJ of taking advantage of her and Thembinkosi “TK” Nciza, who ran her record label at her former bosses, TS Records.

However, DJ Sbu says that’s not the case. He tried to defend his name in July of last year by writing on Twitter, “Ms. Zahara’s money has always gone to her.”

The Mgodi singer responded by disproving his assertions and labelling him a liar.

“I haven’t been getting anything since I left the record label and I saw recently that my music was uploaded on digital platforms without me knowing, it means they sold my records to somebody and it means I need to get a cut for it.”

DJ Sbu and Zahara’s feud has been ongoing, with each party claiming the other is not being truthful.
