Disrespectful Zimbabwean man arrested after assaulting and then bribing the same cops

A Zimbabwean man found himself in hot water after being apprehended by police in Sabie, Mpumalanga, for possessing equipment suspected of being utilized for illegal mining activities.

The 34-year-old man was arrested during a Vala Umgodi operation, which was conducted in response to suspicions of illicit mining operations taking place in the area, according to police spokesperson Col Donald Mdhluli.

The arrest unfolded after the man’s vehicle was flagged down and subjected to a search, revealing the presence of incriminating items.

Among the confiscated equipment were two generators and a jackhammer, which are commonly associated with illegal mining activities. As the situation escalated, the man reportedly attempted to bribe the police officers in a bid to evade arrest.

When his efforts proved unsuccessful, he resorted to physical violence, allegedly assaulting a police officer in a desperate attempt to escape custody.

The suspect’s brazen actions only served to compound his legal troubles, as he now faces a litany of charges stemming from the incident.

Scheduled to appear in the Sabie magistrate’s court on Thursday, the man will be confronted with charges of bribery, assault of a police official, and resisting arrest.
