Disgraced flamboyant lawyer accused of theft and fraud

The trial of former Gqeberha attorney, Siviwe Masimla, has been delayed due to the unavailability of the presiding judge.

Masimla is facing charges of fraud and theft involving over R2 million.

Masimla was a well-known attorney in Gqeberha and had a successful law practice before he was arrested in 2021.

He is accused of defrauding clients and misappropriating funds from his trust account.

The delay in the trial has caused frustration among those affected by Masimla’s alleged crimes.

One of his former clients, who lost over R200,000, expressed disappointment at the delay.

“We have been waiting for justice for a long time. It is frustrating to have to wait even longer,” she said.

Another client who lost over R500,000 stated, “This delay is unacceptable. We want justice to be served and for Masimla to be held accountable for his actions.”

The delay in the trial is not uncommon in the South African justice system, where backlogs and delays are common.
