“Did you see Kevin De Bruyne tell Pep Guardiola to shut up?” – Petersen receives more support after infamous tiff with Johnson

Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson has shed light on the heated exchange between himself and goalkeeper Brandon Petersen following the team’s 3-2 loss to Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby.

The incident, captured on camera, showed Petersen visibly frustrated and engaging in a confrontation with Johnson after the match at FNB Stadium.

In addressing the altercation, Johnson emphasized that such interactions are a normal part of the game and reflect the players’ passion and desire to improve.

“Oh, it was just a normal chat with the coach. ‘Coach, we lost the game, what do we have to fight?’” Johnson explained to the media.

Drawing a comparison to top players like Kevin De Bruyne, Johnson highlighted the importance of open communication and accountability within the team.

“Did you see Kevin De Bruyne tell Pep Guardiola to shut up? It’s normal.

“I want my players to react when we lose. I want them to react and if they react to me, then I take all that on my shoulders because tomorrow I will fix up whatever the reaction is and that is football,” Johnson stated.

He emphasized the need for players to express themselves and engage in constructive dialogue to address challenges and improve performance on the field.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo weighed in on the team’s loss to Orlando Pirates, attributing the defeat to a lack of effective game management by both players and the technical team.

Khumalo pointed out the need for better coordination and decision-making during crucial moments of the match to secure a positive result.
