Chiefs got 99 problems and here are the five most pressing ones

According to The South African the Kaizer Chiefs management will be stewing a handful of burning issues during the World Cup break.

CHIEFS PLAYERS WITH EXPIRING CONTRACTS

Six first-team players, as it stands, have contracts expiring in June 2023. Five of them may be on the wrong side of 30, but that doesn’t mean they can’t still bring value to club football.

Amongst them are Itumeleng Khune and Sifiso Hlanti which Amakhosi really can’t lose. Khama Billiat, on the other hand, has been underperforming at the club so far.

STRIKERS THAT DON’T SCORE GOALS

Bonfils-Cale Bimenyimana has scored six goals this season, to be fair, but four of them have come from the penalty spot.

Ashley Du Preez continues to waste in front of goal. As a result, the club are now linked with a 32-year-old Hungarian unable to secure a game in Europe. As for Bálint Bajner, is this the pond where the chiefs fish now?

NJABULO BLOM

The 22-year-old’s contract is up so he’s already been covered in this article. However, Blom is a big deal in his own right. Kaizer Chiefs simply cannot afford to lose one of the hottest talents in South African football for free.Losing him to a direct rival would add to the pain.

NO TROPHIES IN 7 YEARS

Yes, sorry to sign it, but those are the facts. The last time the mighty Kaizer Chiefs won silver medals was in 2015 when they held the DStv Premiership title in the air. Yes, they came close to coming back in 2019/20, but if you’re not first, you’re last. The chances of winning the 2022-23 trophies don’t look too good either.

 CHIEFS UNDERACHIEVERS

Many players on the Kaizer Chiefs books are overpaid and underperforming. Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly illustrate this point perfectly. The solution to that problem is not easy, but it must certainly be found, and quickly.
