Kaizer Chiefs player Ashley Du Preez scored the fourth goal in their Carling Knockout Cup win over SuperSport United.

Motaung celebrated his birthday this week, and the Chiefs delivered a strong performance in Polokwane against a SuperSport team that finished the match with just 10 players.

With this win, Chiefs joined Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellenbosch FC, Marumo Gallants, Cape Town City FC, and Magesi FC in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Earlier, Magesi caused a surprise by beating Orlando Pirates 3-2.

Many expected this match to be exciting, but SuperSport missed several chances after a strong start.

They played well in midfield but couldn’t convert their opportunities. In contrast, Chiefs were very effective in front of goal.

Gaston Sirino, who is being considered for the national team due to an injury to Themba Zwane, scored the first goal with a great shot from outside the box after a well-coordinated team move.

Chiefs then doubled their lead in the 53rd minute when captain Yusuf Maart scored with a header from a set-piece.

Ranga Chivaviro made it 3-0 20 minutes later, pretty much sealing the victory.

SuperSport had to play the last 11 minutes with 10 men after Gape Moralo received a second yellow card.

Substitute Ashley du Preez then added the fourth goal in stoppage time.

In another match, Cape Town City FC also had a strong performance, beating Royal AM 3-0 at Athlone Stadium.
