Bongani Fassie disputes details of nightclub fight

Singer and producer Bongani Fassie is setting the record straight after reports claimed he was involved in a nightclub fight that left him badly injured and bleeding.

According to ZiMoja, Fassie allegedly got into a scuffle with an unknown man after drinking too much, which left him unable to defend himself.

Fassie, son of the late Brenda Fassie, issued a statement through Fassie Records on Wednesday, saying the news reports contained false information and inaccuracies.

He clarified that he was actually involved in a fight while trying to help a woman who was being attacked by her partner in the early hours of 27 October 2024.

“Misleading reports like these foster misunderstanding, mistrust, and even social division, affecting both Bongani’s reputation and the Fassie brand’s business relationships,” the statement read.

Fassie Records also asked for privacy as they work to resolve the situation through legal means.

A source said, “We don’t know how it started, but we heard an exchange of words, and then fists were flying. Bongani cannot fight, so he was beaten up.” The source added that Fassie lost a lot of blood but is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon.

Additionally, Fassie reportedly received over R400,000 in royalty payments from Sello “Chicco” Twala, which he quickly spent within two months on parties and his rock-star lifestyle.
