Boinehelo Lefefa who killed co-worker fears mob justice?
Miner Boinehelo Lefefa, aged 43, facing charges in connection with the murder of Alcino Macovo, aged 51, opted to abandon his bail application during a brief appearance at the Westonaria Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. The case has been postponed to January 30 and has been transferred to the regional court.
Lefefa’s legal representative, Lwazi Mzinyathi, consulted briefly with him before informing the court of the decision to abandon the bail application, though no reason was provided. This has led others to believe that due to the brutally of his actions, he fears receiving mob justice.

The grim allegations against Lefefa involve a incident captured on camera, showing him stabbing Macovo to death. He engaged in disturbing acts of violence such as disembowelment and an attempt to cut off his head. He did not stop there he also started taking a selfies and recording videos with the corpse while waiting for the police to come to the scene. It is also alleged that Lefefa took Macovo’s cellphone after the incident. The incident reportedly unfolded at a spaza shop where the accused approached the victim with a knife.
Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority regional spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed that the accused opted to abandon bail, leading to the postponement of the case until January.
“Hopefully by then, we will have finalised all the state investigations so that we can move to the next stage of disclosing the contents of the docket to the defence so that they can prepare for the trial,” she said.
She added investigations were at an advanced stage and should be concluded soon.
