Bernard Parker robbed in Soweto

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana star Bernard Parker was recently robbed in Soweto, losing several valuable items while the police continue their investigation.

The robbery took place on 24 September at the Eyethu Shopping Centre in Mofolo, Soweto, leaving fans and the public shocked.

The incident occurred when Parker, who has recently taken on a coaching role at TS Galaxy, returned to his car after visiting the shopping centre. He discovered that the window of his vehicle had been smashed and several personal items were missing, including his laptop, cellphone, iPad, and even his tracksuit.

Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo, a spokesperson for the Gauteng police, confirmed the theft, saying: “Police can confirm that the victim parked his vehicle at a shopping mall in Soweto. When he came back, he realised that his car window was broken and his belongings, including a cellphone, laptop, an iPad, and a tracksuit, were missing. No arrests have been made, yet.”

This robbery comes at a significant time in Bernard Parker’s life. After suffering a serious injury in October 2023 that ended his playing career, Parker transitioned into coaching. He was appointed head coach of TS Galaxy’s DStv Diski Challenge team at the end of the 2023/2024 season.

The injury, which occurred during a Carling Knockout Cup match against Mamelodi Sundowns, resulted in a broken shin from a tackle by Sundowns’ Bongani Zungu. Although his playing career ended unexpectedly, Parker is now fully dedicated to mentoring the next generation of football talent at TS Galaxy.

Off the pitch, Bernard Parker is a family man. He is married to Wendy Parker, and the couple has two children. Over the years, Parker has earned respect for his professionalism and humility, both on and off the field.

Ongoing Police Investigation

Following the robbery, the Gauteng police have opened a case of theft from a motor vehicle. They are working to identify the culprits, but no arrests have been made so far. Authorities are reviewing potential surveillance footage from the shopping centre as part of the investigation.

Despite this setback, Bernard Parker remains focused on his new coaching role at TS Galaxy. The incident has highlighted the challenges public figures face, but Parker’s dedication to his career and family remains strong. Fans are hopeful that justice will prevail as the investigation continues.
