Bafana Bafana coach reacts to draw with Nigeria
Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has reacted to his side’s 1-1 draw with Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday night.
Broos’ team took the lead in the first half through Themba Zwane, who was brilliantly set up by Sphelele Sithole. Zwane navigated past two Nigerian defenders before slotting the ball home.

However, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored the equalizer shortly after the half-time break. Bafana Bafana had to withstand numerous Nigerian attacks while attempting to counter.
After the match, Broos praised his team for their resilience following a challenging trip to Uyo on Wednesday and Thursday.
“First of all, I think that the result is correct. A draw. We had our chances, Nigeria had their chances,” he told journalists in Nigeria, as per SAFA.
“But I have to congratulate my players. As you know or you don’t know, we had a terrible travel to Nigeria on Wednesday. We were only in bed at two o’clock on Thursday morning. So we were 20 hours on the way.
“And when you see the mentality in the team today, then I can only be proud about my players. It was a tough game against a good team.
“But the first half I think we played fantastic football, we had some chances, we could have scored the 2-0. And maybe then the game was played [finished].
“And it was a little bit unlucky from our side that we after two minutes, in the second half we received the goal. And then you know that it will be difficult.
“But again, we fought for it from the 46th till the 95th minute. And again, I think the result is correct.”
