A man throws a party then burns himself to death

A man from Zimbabwe, aged 24,  burned remains were discovered on Saturday, 3 September 2022, in his wrecked home. He set his home on fire after throwing a party for community members. The incident happened in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

The man’s wood and iron house caught fire with him inside at around 09:41 and his neighbours called Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA). RUSA members were dispatched immediately, and when they arrived, they found the house to be entirely destroyed.

The wreckage contained the self-employed tiler’s burned remains.

The deceased bought a lot of meat and alcohol, according to his drunk girlfriend, to throw a braai on Friday afternoon. He spent the entire night having fun with his friends from the community and his girlfriend.

His lover was in his bed when he got home on Saturday morning. She was ordered to leave after he told her he loved her and that he wanted to kill himself. He then locked the door after forcing her out of the house. Then the makeshift residence burst into flames.

Before the shack fell, the deceased man was heard screaming for several minutes. The reason for the suicide was not discovered right away.
