Zwane should perfect his skills in lower divisions

Kaizer Chiefs supporters are calling for the head coach, Arthur Zwane, to be fired following the team’s devastating 4-0 loss to Amazulu. Given how much better the Kaizer Chiefs have played under Zwane’s leadership, it is clear that he has good potential. However, fans are not having it, all they want is trophies and titles.

Zwane will continue to be in the hot seat ahead of the clash with Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday night and will be looking to redeem himself,  but he might not be the right man for Kaizer Chiefs head coach position.

In the 2020/21 season, Zwane qualified Kaizer Chiefs for the historic Caf Champions League finals by winning league games and sneaking the team into the top 8 on the final day. Zwane is as well-versed in the customs and culture of Kaizer Chiefs as one can be after 22 years of experience. He had a distinguished career as an accomplished winger for Amakhosi, scoring 32 goals in 252 games across all competitions. He assisted the team in winning 12 significant trophies between his debut in 2000 and his retirement a decade later, including the Caf Cup Winners Cup, two league titles, the MTN8, Coca-Cola Cup, Absa Cup, BP Top8, and the Telkom Knockout.

Given the potential Zwane possesses, Kaizer chiefs would be wise to demote him so he can master his skills. He was a fantastic assistant coach and should stay there. If not, they should fire him so that he can work with smaller teams in lower divisions to perfect his art.
