Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly close to agreeing on a deal with Saudi club Al Nassr for a staggering R3.5 billion a year.
According to the Daily Mail, Ronaldo – who left Manchester United under acrimonious circumstances recently – is set to sign a bumper £172.9million-a-year (R3 510 203 697,00) contract with this new club.
Ronaldo has apparently agreed to a two-and-a-half-year deal, as reported by Spanish newspaper outlet Marca.
Notably, Al-Nassr is one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia, having claimed the country’s top flight on nine occasions.
Earlier this month, Manchester United confirmed that Ronaldo will leave the club by mutual agreement.
This is a direct follow-up to Ronaldo’s much-maligned interview with Piers Morgan, in which he berated Manchester United, manager Erik ten Hag, former teammates Rooney and Gary Neville, Ralf Rangnick, and the Glazer family, who own the club.

The Portugal international has accused the club of betrayal, adding he believes he will be sent off.
After his ‘divorce’ from the Red Devils, however, he stressed that there were no hard feelings between him and the club.
