Chiefs coach reacts to MTN8 draw
Arthur Zwane, the head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, recently shared his opinions on the results of the MTN8 semi-final draw. The draw happened on Monday night.
Itumeleng Khune’s heroics helped the Soweto giants defeat Stellenbosch 3-4 on penalties on Sunday afternoon. The match was at a jam-packed Danie Craven Stadium after an extra-time draw that ended 1 all. This victory saw chiefs advance to the MTN8 semifinals.
As soon as Zwane arrived in Johannesburg from Stellenbosch he called AmaZulu, their semi-final opponent, “tough.”
Usuthu defeated Cape Town City 2-1 on Saturday at Athlone Stadium to become the first team to put their name in the hat for a spot in the next round.
Chiefs coach statement
“We are competing with AmaZulu. We are all aware that it won’t be simple. They are now performing quite well, winning their league games, and they have advanced to the semifinals. With a good coach and technical staff, they have put together a very good team, according to Zwane, speaking to the PSL media department.
“The semifinal will consist of two legs and be highly challenging. No easy games at all, these are knockout games, so it will rely on how we approach them at home and away as well as how they react, he said.
“First off, we’ll be facing them in a league game this weekend. We are anticipating the game and are simply hoping that we will do well and advance,” said Zwane.
The first leg matches will occur during the weekend of October 1 and 2, while the return leg, which will decide who advances to the final, will occur over the weekend of October 22 and 23.
The locations and start times of the matches have not yet been released by the Premier Soccer League.
