Hunt faces challenges with thin SuperSport squad

SuperSport United’s head coach Gavin Hunt has expressed concerns about his team’s lack of players following a 2-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night.

Matsatsantsa has had a rough start to the new season, currently sitting in 13th place in the league with only four points from five matches.

They were also eliminated from the Carling Knockout Cup after a disappointing 4-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs last weekend.

After the match, Hunt, who has won four league titles in the PSL, highlighted the issue of player shortages.

“Players are giving their all, but obviously, we’re fielding 18-year-olds and 19-year-olds. That’s what we have, so when we lose one or two, we’re going to struggle. We have had no right-sided players since the start of the season. So that’s a problem. Obviously, strikers are struggling up front,” Hunt said.

He also noted the team’s challenges in scoring goals while commending new signing Tashreeq Morris for his impressive start this season.

“It took Morris to come and help us, he’s come in and he has been good, you know, somebody that didn’t have a club. The bottom line is that we’re just lacking in playing personnel,” Hunt added.
