Itumeleng Khune backs Ranga Chivaviro: “He used to bring the best out of me”

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune shares his high regard for struggling striker Ranga Chivaviro, stating, “He used to bring the best out of me.” Khune, now an analyst for SABC Sport, acknowledges Chivaviro’s contributions to the team’s performance this season.

Khune remarked, “He is playing a huge role in making sure that as a striker, you have to finish a game with a goal or with a shot at goal. He is the type of striker that likes to take shots at goal and that’s what I like about him. I used to bring the best out of him at training and he used to bring the best out of me. So, I am happy to see him doing well.”

Chivaviro, 31, has made a notable impact for the Amakhosi, scoring three goals across all competitions.

His performances have drawn the attention of the Zimbabwe national team coach, positioning him as a valuable option for their squad, especially with Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos not considering him for selection.

This situation offers Chivaviro a chance to shine on the international stage while continuing to excel at his club, with his form being vital as Amakhosi aims for success this season.

Looking ahead, the Chiefs will face SuperSport United in a key league match. Despite having only one league loss this season, Chiefs are optimistic after recently defeating SuperSport in a cup competition.

For Chivaviro, this game is another opportunity to enhance his current form and increase his goal tally, potentially playing a crucial role in securing consecutive victories for the team.

During his analysis of the recent match between Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United, Khune praised Chivaviro, who scored in that game.

He emphasised the striker’s significant influence on the squad and his ability to elevate the team’s performance, showcasing his belief in Chivaviro’s importance for the Chiefs moving forward.
