PRASA security guard arrested for raping women at gunpoint

Sipho Lucas Phiri, aged 38, who was a security officer at PRASA has been charged for 145 counts including, kidnapping, and rape.

According to reports, Phiri was employed at PRASA from 2020 until he was arrested and the company terminated his contract in 2023 shortly after his arrest.

It is alleged that Phiri targeted women who were going to work early mornings in the Thembisa area. He used the company car to pick up the women then take them to the bushes and rape them at gunpoint.
