Hands Off! Orlando Pirates declares as they put barbed wire around Mabasa
Orlando Pirates fans can breathe a sigh of relief as it seems their star striker Tshegofatso Mabasa will be staying put at the club for at least another season.
The 27-year-old has been in fine form since his return from loan at Moroka Swallows, impressing both fans and head coach Jose Riveiro with his performances on the pitch.
With leading striker Evidence Makgopa sidelined, Mabasa has stepped up to the plate, scoring crucial goals and providing assists for his teammates.
His standout performances in the Nedbank Cup and the Soweto derby have caught the attention of other clubs, but Pirates are adamant that they will not be entertaining any offers for the talented forward.
Sources close to the club have revealed that Pirates have already made a decision to exercise the option on Mabasa’s contract, keeping him at the club for the foreseeable future.
The striker has proven himself to be a valuable asset to the team, and it seems that he will be given the opportunity to compete for a starting spot in Riveiro’s line-up next season.
“Tshegofatso Mabasa has impressed the coach at Pirates and the plan is to extend his contract. He is likely to get a chance to compete from the beginning of next season and could be one of the leading strikers for the team,” said a source.
