Benni McCarthy tipped to return home as his Manchester United future goes up in smoke

The future of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has come under scrutiny, with reports in the UK suggesting uncertainty surrounding his tenure.

This potential change could also impact the status of his backroom staff, including former South African football star Benni McCarthy.

Ten Hag recently secured a crucial victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup quarterfinals, moving Manchester United closer to a potential trophy win this season and setting up a fixture against Coventry City at Wembley next month.

Despite this achievement, there is speculation that the former Ajax Amsterdam coach may be on the verge of departing the club, a sentiment echoed by figures like club legend Gary Neville.

Benni McCarthy, known for his lethal attacking prowess during his playing days in the Premier League, joined Ten Hag’s technical team as a first-team coach with a focus on guiding the club’s forwards.

Sources suggest that McCarthy is open to the idea of returning to a head coaching role if Ten Hag’s departure leads to a restructuring of the coaching staff.

Having previously coached successful stints with Cape Town City and AmaZulu in the Premier Soccer League, McCarthy has demonstrated his capabilities in a managerial role.

Soccer Laduma insiders have indicated that McCarthy would be eager to take on a coaching position where he can once again take charge and make key decisions.
