“He held a gun to my head” – Patron narrates horror ordeal after balaclava clad robbers targeted a rugby club
The victim, who chose to remain anonymous out of fear due to the suspects still being at large, recounted the harrowing ordeal to Lowvelder, shedding light on the traumatic experience that unfolded last Friday evening.
The patron had been enjoying an evening at the club with his fiancé and friends when the night took a sinister turn.
As the bar signaled last rounds, he stepped out to retrieve his wallet from his car only to return and find himself face to face with a man clad in a red balaclava, armed with a shotgun, accompanied by five other individuals.
The sudden appearance of the armed men sent shockwaves through the club as chaos ensued.
Describing the heart-stopping moment when the gunman directed his weapon at him, the patron recalled feeling a surge of fear and helplessness.
“One of the suspects screamed for us to put our heads down and then he fired a warning shot into the ceiling. I was in absolute shock after hearing the gun go off.”
Despite his attempts to alert his fiancé, she too became a target of the assailants’ aggression, with both being coerced into compliance at gunpoint.
The atmosphere of the club quickly shifted from one of joviality to one of terror as the armed robbers seized control of the situation.
The victim recounted the calculated and menacing behavior of the suspects, noting their precision in orchestrating the robbery and intimidating the patrons.
The robbers proceeded to herd everyone to the back of the bar, ordering them to lie on the ground while firing a warning shot into the ceiling, sending shockwaves through the establishment.
Amidst the chaos, the perpetrators demanded the keys to the patrons’ vehicles, adding another layer of fear and uncertainty to the already tense situation.
