Orlando Pirates coach gets job in Zimbabwe
Zimbabwean Football Association (ZIFA) has made significant coaching appointments, with Simon Marange being named as the new head coach of the Zimbabwe U20 men’s team.
Marange, who currently serves as the Orlando Pirates reserves coach, brings a wealth of experience to the role following his successful coaching tenure at the South African club.
In a statement released by ZIFA on Tuesday, the association expressed their pleasure in announcing Marange’s appointment, highlighting his coaching background and achievements.
The statement detailed Marange’s coaching journey, including stints with the Orlando Pirates U21 and U17 teams, where he achieved notable success, such as winning the Future Champions Trophy.
ZIFA praised Marange for his expertise in nurturing elite youth players and preparing them for the transition to professional football.
The association emphasized the importance of Marange’s experience in guiding young talents through their development phase, ultimately helping them make the leap to the professional ranks.
Additionally, former Aces Academy head coach Backlyfield Chivenga has been named as Marange’s assistant, further bolstering the coaching staff for the Zimbabwe U20 men’s team.
In a separate announcement, ZIFA revealed the appointment of Norman Mapeza, former Chippa United coach, as the interim coach for the Warriors.
