Mabasa has said something very interesting ahead of Soweto Derby
Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa is determined to turn the team’s fortunes around in the upcoming Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs following a disappointing draw against Cape Town Spurs.
Despite the setback, Mabasa believes that a victory in the derby could serve as a catalyst for revitalizing the team’s morale and performance.
“And yes, after last night’s (Wednesday) performance the morale is down, but we have to pick ourselves up leading to the Soweto derby. This will be a big game, but there is no better way to regain our form than beating our rivals.”
In a recent DStv Premiership clash against Cape Town Spurs, Pirates struggled to break down their opponents’ defensive setup, resulting in a frustrating 1-1 draw.
Reflecting on the match, Mabasa acknowledged the challenges posed by facing a team that adopts a defensive approach.
Despite creating opportunities to secure a win, Pirates fell short of converting their chances, leaving them with a sense of missed opportunity.
Mabasa emphasized the importance of regrouping and maintaining a positive mindset heading into the Soweto derby, recognizing the significance of the upcoming fixture.
The striker highlighted the rivalry between the two clubs and the motivation to secure a victory against their arch-rivals to reignite the team’s form and boost morale.
Having recently returned to Orlando Pirates from a loan spell at Moroka Swallows, Mabasa has already made a notable impact with a goal to his name.
