King Misuzulu’s axed spokesperson Prince Africa ready to spill the beans as he calls for press conference
AmaZulu King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini’s former spokesperson, Prince Africa, is set to reveal the details surrounding his and former Ingonyama Trust Board chairperson, Thanduyise Mzimela’s, recent dismissals by the king.
The prince is expected to hold a media briefing in uMhlanga after lunch, where he plans to provide insight into his dismissal and that of Mzimela.
Prince Africa’s dismissal letter was issued through the office of the newly-appointed Zulu traditional prime minister, Thulasizwe Buthelezi, earlier this week.
Despite the appointment of Inkosi Buthelezi as prime minister, Prince Africa had previously released a media statement asserting that he remained the official spokesperson for the king.
However, he was swiftly dismissed thereafter.
In the letter, the king removed the prince from all positions, including that of the Royal Agent, and placed all communications matters under the control of the prime minister.
Speaking to the Daily News, Prince Africa expressed his lack of surprise regarding the removal but expressed disappointment that the king had chosen to send others to deliver the news.
“When the king gave me this responsibility, he communicated directly with me as it was not a paid position, but when he decided to take it away, he felt he should send other people,” said the prince.
In a media invite, Prince Africa stated that the briefing would address his dismissal and that of Mzimela as Ingonyama Trust Board chairperson.
